Why should I take professional 1st Year of Baby photography photos?
- Capture the moments of your baby while s/he is still tiny by someone who understands lighting, posing and safety of children ( we’ve started our business 17 years ago)
- Document those fast growing phases that will pass by so quickly and you won’t remember them unless you look back on those photos.
- Not only you will love having these photos done but your child will later thank you for having these precious times documented
- You’ll be able to share the news of your baby with your friends and family by amazing photos
Who is invited to be a part of my 1st Year of Baby sessions?
Your baby will be of course the star of the show but we always love to do photos with mommy and daddy as well. There is no additional fee for siblings or pets either. We highly encourage it.
What do you get when booking with us?
Besides Lucie’s infectious happiness and energy, you’ll also have your choice of MANY great products to choose from.
- Wall collages & prints
- Custom albums
- Grandparent albums
- Baby announcements
- Zig Zag booklets
- and so much more.
You can get the digitals too, but we don’t want you to be one of those that just gets digitals and tucks them away on a computer hard drive that nobody sees. Be proud and print your memories. Save the digitals for backing up, future art projects and social media.
What amount of time is needed for a 1st Year of Baby series?
Each session takes different amounts of time. The newborn session typically takes about 2 hours but it all depends on your baby. The other sessions such as maternity, sitting, 6 months, 1 year, etc. should only take about 1 hour. More time can be added as needed.
What do we wear to the photo shoot?
White or light clothing works the best for the studio newborn portraits. We also have variety of clothing to choose from at the studio. For outdoor or in your home, Lucie can look over what you have and make suggestions for pairings.
When should I book our session?
You can book at any time, but due to demand, we do suggest not procrastinating so that we can have fun planning out the shoot.
When is the best time to have the newborn portraits?
For maternity, we typically suggest around 33 weeks, but it all depends on you and how you look and feel. As long as you have a nice bump we are ready for you. You probably don’t want to be too close to your due date just because you may feel less comfortable and lets be honest, these little kids don’t listen to what they are told and come when they feel like it. You don’t want to give birth before we can capture the photos.
For newborn photos, the best time is between 5 days to 2 weeks when the baby is still very sleepy and likes to be curled up (like s/he was in the womb), but if you miss this window, don’t hesitate to contact me. I can take photos of your baby at any time, we’ll just have to take a slightly different approach. Also, baby acne tends to appear after week 3.
For the rest of the photo series, we can schedule based on milestones such as sitting, walking, number of months, at or before their 1st birthday. Flexibility in timing is much easier as we move to the later sessions, but we still want to put something in the calendar to make sure we don’t miss them.
Where does the 1st Year of Baby photography sessions takes place?
For maternity, Hawaii has so many amazing outdoor locations! We can come to your favorite spot or we can recommend a beach or another photogenic spot. Feel free to check out our Instagram for more ideas. However, we do have a studio too where we can make it more comfortable for you.
We do all of our newborn sessions in our home studio in Kaneohe where we have control of the light, environment, and have a cozy place for the session to take place. We have plenty of props including hats, headbands and backgrounds that you can choose from.
For the remainder of the shoots we can mix them between outdoors, in your home and at our studio for the cake smash. We can discuss those places as we grow with your little one.
Do you charge extra for travel?
No & Yes. There are no travel fees on Oahu, but there are minimal travel fees to the other islands or around the world. Please let us know where you’re going and we can help figure out travel costs.
